Jinan School is named after the literature allusion to the exception from Discussion on the Tribute of Yu to the effect of targeting the Southeast countries and regions of Asian and disseminating the excellent culture of the Chinese ethnic peoples to all the parts of the world. Admittedly, over past 100 years generations of Jinan people assuredly passed this mission. As referring the word Jinan”, we can firstly associate to overseas Chinese students”. As the saying of Business is set as the birth of Jinan University”, as early as 1918 Jinan University set the Business when facing the social reality of all overseas Chinese students work for earning a living when they grow up”. In the history of Jinan university, it always advocates liberal education and free research", and all courses for the Business are important and essential. More proudly, as early as 1920s, Jinan students had taken the lead in business survey" and "accounting practice” and other fine traditions that highly stress practice and extensively contact with real economic environment in the industry and commerce management education.

As the Number One Scholar in the Late Qing Dynasty, i.e. the first in national civil official admission examination, Chang Chien is the Chinese modern famous and patriotic businessman and educationist, and also one of members of the board of trustees of Jinan University. At the beginning of the 20th century, he was titled the Most Respectable” by Chinese people.

As time passing by, Jinan University has experienced for hundred years. During past hundred years, although it had three fallings and three risings, five migrations, yet it still continues the tradition. In the history of running school, we launched a unique idea of running the overseas Chinese school and accumulated profound culture deposits and created our own Jinan Spirit”, namely Loyalty, Sincerity, Integrity, Respect, Unremittingness, Inclusiveness, and Upholding unity of Knowledge and Practice.”
